LaMMA (stands for Laboratorio per la Meteorologia e Modellistica Ambientale) performs research and consulting activities in the following fields:
  • Meteorology
  • Climatology
  • Remote Sensing
  • Air Quality
The Remote Sensing Sector of LaMMA operates in the field of environmental monitoring by using information provided by different satellites. Data is analysed together with ancillary information both by commercial software packages and by self implemented procedures.
In particular, the Remote Sensing sector focuses on the following topics:
  • Monitoring the state, evolution and integration of marine and terrestrial environment
  • Providing input information to meteorological models
  • Identifying and quantifying, for a given region, environmental hazards
  • Decision and operational support in case of environmental emergencies
  • Evaluation of environmental effects of natural and man related modifications of the ecosystem
