The European Space Agency (ESA) hereby invites all interested companies from all eligible DUE participating countries to submit a tender for the GlobSnow procurement. If companies are not yet registered as an ESA bidder, they are invited to obtain access to EMITS by completing a questionnaire, which can be found at the indicated URL below, section Registration Request.
The main purpose of the GlobSnow DUE project is to define, implement and validate, a Earth Observation (EO) snow monitoring information service on a global scale. The service is intended to support the GCOS implementation plan with systematic satellite-based Earth Observations on the Essential Climate Variable global snow aeral extent and related products. The global snow monitoring service should be developed in close collaboration and in accordance with the users in the climate change research community and their requirements as defined by the UNFCCC. Specifically the requirements for fulfilling a long term climate data record (CDR) in terms of stability, accuracy and homogeneity should be respected as far as possible.
In order to ensure the objectives of a global snow monitoring service the following steps are required within GlobSnow:The GlobSnow
project supports users within the climate change research community involved in
global snow monitoring:
(i) intergovernmental bodies (e.g. WCRP, EEA)
(ii) governmental institutions (e.g. Meteorological Offices, national
environmental agencies)
(iii) scientific groups.
