Research Organisation
The Department of Geography, University of Zurich, belongs to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. It is the largest Geography Department in Switzerland and offers a wide range of teaching and research facilities.
It is divided into six divisions:
  • Physical Geography
  • Human Geography
  • Economic Geography
  • Remote Sensing Laboratories
  • Geographic Information Visualization & Analysis
  • Geographic Information Systems
The Physical Geography Division is grouped as follows:
  • Glaciology and Geomorphodynamics
  • Soil Science and Biogeography

High-mountains and Ice-Age conditions are central points of geomorphological and glaciological research in the Physical Geography Section. Process-oriented studies mainly concentrate on climate-related issues and natural hazards.
