The objective of the permafrost monitoring project was to demonstrate the capability of Earth Observation (EO)-based data to identify, monitor and assess permafrost related geo-hazards as a complementary tool to existing practice, such as terrain analysis, permafrost science and geotechnical engineering. The end users requires deformation and geohazard maps to determine the existence and extent of permafrost instability to reduce risk to resource development and production. |
