Research Organisation
The Laboratory of Sciences of the Climate and Environment (LSCE) is a mixed unit of research CEA-CNRS created in January 1998 by the fusion of the Center of the Low Radioactivities and the Laboratory of Modeling of the Climate and the Environment.
Within the federation of laboratories of the Paris area that the Institute Pierre Simon Laplace constitutes, the activity of the LSCE is centered on the study of the mechanisms of the evolution of the climate and the external environment of the Earth.

The research topics of the LSCE are distributed on three large axes:

  • Sciences of the climate, whose objective is to include/understand the mechanisms of the natural variability of the climate on various scales of time.
  • The study of the biogeochemical cycles, whose objective is to include/understand the processes intervening in the cycle of key components which interact with the climate, as the cycle of carbon or that of the aerosols.
  • Geochronology and analysis of géomarqueurs, based on the control of a pallet of techniques applied to the study last and present of the géosphère and of its relationships to the climate.
