The CEOS pilot project Global Observation of Forest Cover (GOFC) has in particular requested the production of 1km resolution global area burnt products using the ATSR-2 instrument on board the ERS-2 satellite.
The objective of the GlobScar project was to demonstrate the feasibility of a processing, production and distribution chain of a global burn scar products on a regular basis and within a timely framework, based on ATSR-data. As a demonstration, one year (2000) of ATSR-products will be processed and validated.
