 Organisation Description Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is a federal government department specializing in the sustainable development and use of natural resources, energy, minerals and metals, forests and earth sciences.
The department:
  • provides policy and program toward the sustainable development of Canada's forest;
  • carries out research and development programs in a highly decentralized organization;
  • coordinates various stakeholders to arrive at national consensus on forestry issues and supports Canada's trade interest in wood products.

Within NRCan, the Mission of the Canadian Forest Service is "To promote the sustainable development of Canada's forests and competitiveness of the Canadian forest sector for the well-being of present and future generations of Canadians."
