Municipality of Madrid

The Cartography Department of the municipality is responsible for:

• the development of spatial data Infrastructure as an instrument for the urban strategic planning;
• the primary supply of geo-referenced information in Madrid’s City Council;
• the development of specific thematic cartography.

The Urban Engineering Department of the municipality is responsible for the development of infrastructural strategic planning (energy, water cycle, communication technology)

The Department of Urban Management and Environmental Strategy of the municipality is responsible for

• the development of urban renovation actions;
• environmental studies and;
• the development of sustainability criteria.

The municipality of Madrid covers an area of 643 km2 and has about 3,1 million inhabitants.
